Production and quality:

In our production facility in Nakhon Sawan we produce oils according to international standards and protocols for cold pressed seed for use in food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. In addition to our own quality control independent laboratories analyse our oils to ensure customers are not misled as to the nature, quality of our oils.

What is cold pressing and solvent extraction?

Cold pressing is the most traditional and careful way to naturally produce oil from sacha inchi, sesame, sunflower, moringa and perilla seeds. This process works without the use of chemicals or solvents. Usually temperatures during the process are around 80°C which guarantees that the full quality and benefit of the oil is preserved. The low temperature also helps to produce low peroxide values (PV). Once the oil has settled after the pressing, it is filtered bottled according to the wishes of the customer. Because the cold pressing process is natural slight variations in character and appearance in the oil can occur.
Our zingiber root oil and lemongrass oil, which are widely used as functional massage oils, are extracted through careful steam distillation.

Basics knowledge on oils and fats:

What are oil and fats?

Like other organic materials, oils and fats contain three elements: carbon, oxygen, hydrogen. Together they form chains known as fatty acids. Three fatty acid chains combine to a molecule known as a triglyceride. Tryglyceride molecule is the basis of all oils and fats.

What are saturated and unsaturated oils & fats?

Oils and fats are either saturated or unsaturated. Saturated fats are useful in processed foods because they are less vulnerable to rancidity. Also they are usually more solid at room temperature than unsaturated fats. Most animal fats such as meat, butter, cheese and cream contain relatively high levels of saturated fat, but so do coconut oil or palm oil. Unsaturated fat typically comes from plant sources such as olives, nuts, or seeds – but unsaturated fat can also be found in fish. Unsaturated fat are usually called oils. Unsaturated fatty acids are further sub divided into mono-, polyunsaturated fats and transfats. Monounsaturated Fatty Acids (MUFA) are more stable to oxidation and rancidity. They are considered as being the best type of fat to eat. Polyunsaturated fats are least stable fatty acids to oxidation. The most common source of polyunsaturates is sunflowerseed oil (link).

What is transfat?

Transfat is naturally found in small amounts in some products such as meat and milk products. For industrial use transfat is usually made from vegetable oils in a process called hydrogenation. Most research suggests that transfats should be avoided because they negatively affect blood cholesterol levels.

Fats, oils and your health

EU and US authorities recommend consuming more unsaturated fat than saturated and trans fats. This helps to reduce your risk of heart disease and improve “good” cholesterol levels (HDL). Therefore you should cut back on foods containing saturated fat such as:

– sausages, bacon, rips;
– french fries and other fried foods (if fried in transfat or saturated fat)
– fried chicken and other chicken dishes with skin;
– ice-cream, desserts and baked goods (cakes, cookies donuts, croissants, pastries, and croissants);
– regular ground beef and cuts of meat with visible fat;
– whole milk and full-fat dairy foods

Why your diet should include fat?

Fat has important functions as a nutrient. It provides a concentrated source of energy. It is also a carrier for fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. They are found in different plants such as sacha inchi, perilla, soybeans, olives, sunflowers, and peanuts. A number of fats themselves are essential to your health and cannot be produced by your bodies. These are known as the essential fatty acids (EFA’s) or omega fatty acids. Linoleic acid (omega-6) and alpha linolenic acid (omega-3) are the most common essential fatty acids found in vegetable oils. The most prolific source of essential fatty acids are fish oils such as cod liver oil, but it can also come from plant-based sources such as sacha inchi oil.
